On Friday the 17th of July 2020 the SocialSofa for Orange the World was unveiled in Roermond on the Kloosterwandplein by Karin Bruers and councilwoman Marianne Smitsmans. The Soroptimist Club Mosaïk Limburg is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and together they have mosaiced a beautiful sofa. The sofa’s theme is Orange the World, which is an international initiative to battle violence against women and girls.
The Soroptimisten have several clubs all over the country and together they are working to improve the lives of women and girls. This SocialSofa is therefore a symbol to fight it together. It must become a place where women and girls feel safe and can share their suffering or grief, but also their beautiful moments. Only together we can get there.
We are proud that there is a sofa that symbolizes the solidarity between the organizations.
